Our Story
Woodcutter Ink is a disabled, queer, female owned tattoo studio, built singlehandedly by Elise, a self taught tattoo artist from Ripon.
Elise decided to follow the avenue of independent training after finding the modern tattoo industry didn't align with her values and lifestyle.
With unpaid apprenticeships seeming borderline exploitive and impossible to make a priority with the ever growing increase in the cost of living, the standard way in to the industry means being over worked and under paid, and if you look at the owners of these tattoo studios providing apprenticeships, a lot of the time the owners were self taught themselves.
Woodcutter Ink aims to be a comfortable, neurodivergent friendly studio, which challenges the standards of the often uncomfortable tattoo industry.
